This lovely violin is closely based on a truly outstanding Del Gesu, the Stern 'ex Panette', which was owned by Isaac Stern from 1947 to 1994 and was used for many of his varied recordings. He had such a large and diverse repertoire from Brahms to Bernstein and many in between, that it was not long before somebody came up with the wonderful quip that 'he left no tone unsterned'.
Our violin is not a slavish copy as might be expected but is close in all woodwork respects whilst following an independent path for maximum speed of response and depth of sound.
The varnish is extensively worked and has a glowing radiance.
