Maurin Strad 1718 model - available to buy
The Maurin Stradivari is an important example of Antonio Stradivari’s work from the ‘golden’ period. The original violin of 1718 has a two piece maple back as does my 2019 version. The top is very fine spruce, the linings and blocks are of the same material. The violin was for many years played by the late Peter Cropper in the Lindsay Quartet and it was in the context of this quartet that I first came to love the sound of this violin.
I have made versions of this violin on a number of occasions and am thrilled with the character and responsiveness of this one. I hear a particularly fine and refined treble without compromising the full round sound but please play it and see what you feel!
The violin is branded, labelled and signed by Roger Hansell.
